Are you an early career librarian? Have you recently moved into management, or taken on new instruction responsibilities? Do you feel like you’re faking it til you make it? If you said yes to any of these, this presentation is for you! Hear our stories of on-the-job learning, what we wished we’d learned in our MLIS programs, and the strategies we used to paint ourselves out of professional corners. Expect a practical discussion of major concepts in teaching and management, as well as a safe space to be vulnerable about what you don’t know–in other words, what you haven’t learned yet!

Great job! And thank you so much for pointing out how every new librarian feels! It’s true, its hard to find an instruction position with no teaching experience, especially since it was not an option in my MLIS program. I have found it is most helpful to promote my Tactic knowledge, experience with instruction in my previous career as helpful in promoting my skills!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Laura! That makes complete sense — anytime you can parlay previous experience in a new position, it shows how adaptable you are. Thanks for watching!
