The Effects of Leadership Behavior and Organizational Culture on Library Employee Engagement: The Mediating Role of Communication Climate

The poster reports findings of a study that examined the effects of leadership behavior and organizational culture on employee engagement through the mediation of a supportive communication climate among academic library employees in Maryland. IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to run descriptive, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and path analysis tests through Analysis of Moment Structures for Structural Equation Modelling (AMOS). The major finding of the study has a direct bearing on library deans and directors.

Fanuel Chirombo has worked for 34 years in different positions in both public and technical services in eight academic libraries across two continents under the leadership of different deans and directors in contrasting cultural environments. He holds a PhD in Organizational Leadership from University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a Master’s degree in Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus, a Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland College Park and a Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education from the University of Zimbabwe.
