Using the Magic of LibWizard(ry) to Create Research Appointment Best Practices

Research appointments between librarians and students serve the space between in-class instruction and traditional reference interactions. This poster will discuss the implementation of a LibWizard feedback form that was integrated into all research appointment requests. The gathered feedback helped inform the development of research appointment best practices.

Katy Sullivan – Head of Reference & Instruction, University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Katy Sullivan has worked as an academic reference and instruction librarian in Maryland for twenty years. Currently, she works as Head of Reference & Instruction at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). In this role, she oversees research support services, library instruction, and the subject librarian program. She holds an MLS from the iSchool at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Semhar Yohannes – Science Reference and Instruction Librarian, University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Semhar Yohannes has been serving as a Science Reference and Instruction Librarian for nearly a decade. In her current role at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), she teaches library instruction sessions, conducts reference consultations, and has developed workshops and other outreach initiatives. In 2018, she obtained her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a concentration on health literacy in young adults.
