Getting to Towson University
Here are some guidelines for getting to the best entrance to campus to get to the parking garage:
From I-95 (northbound and southbound): Take the Baltimore Beltway I-695 west (toward Towson). Take exit 25 (Charles Street) south. Drive 1.7 miles. Turn left on Towsontown Boulevard. Proceed to the intersection of Towsontown Boulevard and University Avenue. Turn right on University Avenue.
Google Maps will also take you to the garage entrance. Just search for “Towsontown Parking Garage, Towson, MD”
Parking
Parking for TCAL will take place in the Towsontown parking garage. This is the same garage we have used when TCAL was previously in person. Prior to arriving on campus you will need to use the ParkMobile app to “reserve” a parking space by entering the access code for TCAL and entering your license plate number. TU Parking uses license plates to verify that individual cars are permitted to park in the spaces they are in.
To reserve your spot:
- Navigate to the ParkMobile app (https://app.parkmobile.io/venue/towsontown-garage/events)
- In the list of events, scroll to TCAL 2023 and click on it. You will be taken to a list of parking space types and parking lots
- At the top of the list, click on “Filters & Access Codes”. A pop-up window will appear
- At the bottom of the pop-up window, in the “Access Code” text box, enter the access code for the event: 34223TTG
- Click the “Apply” button. The list of parking space types and parking lots will be updated so that only one option for Towsontown Garage will let you click on the “Reserve” button
- Click on the “Reserve” button
- Log into ParkMobile, either with an existing account you might have, or as a guest. You can also create an account if you choose
- After logging in, enter your email address and then your license plate information
- Click on “Complete Purchase”
You can also review these instructions from TU Parking, which include the needed access code, for guidance on using the ParkMobile app. However, be aware that these instructions are missing a few of the steps listed above.
The easiest way to get to the garage is by entering the Towson University campus at the University Avenue entrance at Towsontown Boulevard. After turning onto University Avenue, you will take your first left, and then enter the garage using the second entrance on your right (the first entrance is for TU faculty/staff parking on the ground floor of the garage; the second entrance is the ramp that will take you to higher levels of the garage). Parking is available beginning on the 3rd level of the garage. You may park in any of the spaces labeled as “Core” with a stripe of green color on the bottom of the parking space labels. Please refer to the parking instructions for a picture of the appropriate parking space label.
Please be aware: There is currently extensive roadwork being done on University Avenue that will likely still be happening on the day of TCAL. Please drive cautiously, and be aware of any flaggers who may need to guide you through any one-lane sections of the road.
Wayfinding
After parking, you will want to use an elevator or staircase to descend to the 2nd floor of the garage. Make your way to the middle of the south side of the garage (the long side facing the rest of campus) where there is a pedestrian bridge to University Avenue and then the College of Liberal Arts straight ahead. Cross this bridge as well as University Avenue, and then follow the wayfinding signs to navigate to Cook Library. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from the garage to the library.
Since 2019, when TCAL was last in person, Towson University has improved the wayfinding signage on campus, which will help you navigate to various buildings including Cook Library. There will also be a series of smaller signs specific to the library that will help guide you. Additionally, the campus has been mapped by Google Maps. You can also view the campus map and the campus accessibility guide.
