Meet the 2021 Baltimore Business Review contributors.
FINN CHRISTENSEN, PH.D., is an
Associate Professor in the Department
of Economics at Towson University
where he teaches microeconomics
and game theory. His current research
interests include the economics of the
music industry, mathematical economics with a focus on
comparative statics analysis and optimization, and the
economics of statistical discrimination. His research has
been published in journals such as Economic Theory,
Journal of Mathematical Economics, and Economics
Letters, among others. Finn holds a Ph.D. in economics
from Cornell University and a BS in economics and
French from Bradley University.
MICHAËL DEWALLY, PH.D.,
Associate Professor in the Finance
department, holds a MS in Chemical
Engineering from France and a
MBA and Ph.D. from the University
of Oklahoma. Upon graduation with
his doctoral degree, he accepted a position at Marquette
University in Milwaukee from where he joined Towson
University in 2010. Michaël’s research interests are in
the fields of Investments and Corporate Governance.
His research areas span from the link between corporate
governance structure and firm performance to the profits
of market participants in the crude oil futures market.
His research has appeared in the Review of Financial
Studies, Journal of Business, the Journal of Banking
and Finance, the Journal of Corporate Finance, the
Financial Analysts Journal among others.
DAVE DONAHOO is a Vice President
of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc. and
National Account Manager within
Global Distribution at T. Rowe Price.
In this role, he is responsible for dayto-
day oversight of some of the firm’s
largest bank partnerships. Mr. Donahoo has 13 years
of industry experience, all of which have been with T.
Rowe Price. Prior to assuming his current role, Dave
spent time covering clients in various channels on the
firm’s behalf. Mr. Donahoo earned a B.A.from Dickinson
College and completed a study fellowship at
the London School of Economics. He is scheduled to
graduate with his MBA from University of Pennsylvania’s
Wharton School in 2021. He also has earned
the Chartered Financial Analyst designation & serves
on the CFA Society Baltimore Board.
BRADFORD MUIR is a Supervisor
at Vallit Advisors, a leading business
valuation and advisory services firm.
Brad has a background in finance and
a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from
the George Washington University. He
performs valuations for privately held businesses in
industries including government contracting, manufacturing
and distribution, and professional services. Brad
also prepares financial models and conducts financial
statement analysis and industry and economic research
for complex commercial and intellectual property
damages litigation engagements.
FARHAN S. MUSTAFA, CFA, is
Head of Investment Risk Management
and Head of Quantitative Investments
at ClearBridge Investments, a global
investment manager wholly owned by
Franklin Templeton. Farhan joined a
predecessor firm in 2003. He has a B.A. in Economics
and Computer Science from Washington and Lee University
and an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School
of Business at the University of Maryland.
ALEKSANDR OLSHANSKIY is the
compliance officer for the Towson
University Investment Group and an
undergraduate junior majoring in
Business Administration with a dual
concentration in Finance. Aleksandr
is interested in investments and equity analyses and
has previously interned with Prudential.
MATT ORSAGH, CFA, CIPM, is
Senior director of Capital Markets
Policy at CFA Institute, where he
focuses on corporate governance and
ESG issues. Matt Orsagh, CFA, CIPM,
is a director of capital markets policy
at CFA Institute, where he focuses on corporate governance
issues. He was named one of the 2008 “Rising
Stars of Corporate Governance” by the Millstein Center
for Corporate Governance and Performance at the Yale
School of Management. He is a Chartered Financial
Analyst and has a Certificate in Investment Performance
Measurement from the CFA Institute.
KEYUR PATEL is the vice president
of the Towson University Investment
Group and an undergraduate senior
majoring in Business Administration
with a dual concentration in Finance
and Financial Planning at Towson
University. Keyur has previously interned at Northwestern
Mutual as a College Financial Representative.
Keyur is currently interning with Blue Point Investment
Management as an Equity Research intern.
RIYA PATEL is an undergraduate
senior at Towson University double
majoring in Project Management
& Business Analysis and Business
Systems & Processes. Currently, she
serves as the President for Data Analytics
and Visualization Group at Towson University. Riya
is interning at Mediterranean shipping Company as an
Equipment Control enjoys traveling, exploring new
places and going out with friends during her free time.
JACOB PIAZZA is an undergraduate
senior majoring in Business Administration
with a dual concentration in
Finance and Economics at Towson
University. As Portfolio Manager for
the Towson University Investment
Group, he actively conducts bottom-up, fundamental
research on potential additions to the existing portfolio.
Jacob has previously interned at Tufton Capital
Management as an equity research analyst, and as
an equity research assistant at Blue Point Investment
Management.
SARAH PULKOWSKI is the president
of the Towson University Investment
Group and an undergraduate senior
majoring in Business Administration
with a Concentration in Finance and
Minor in Accounting. Sarah has previously
interned with Morgan Stanley as a member of their
Summer Analyst Program. Sarah is currently interning
with New Enterprise Associates as an Accounting
Intern and with Blue Point Investment Management
as an Equity Research Intern.
YINGYING SHAO, PH.D., CFA, is an
Associate Professor in the Department
of Finance at Towson University. Prior
to receiving her Ph.D. in Finance from
the University of Arkansas in 2010,
she completed a Master of Science in
Finance from the University of Tulsa in 2006, and earned
her MBA from the University of Arkansas in 2003. Her
research interests, taking root from her many years of
experience at Bank of China, include banking, risk
management, corporate finance and emerging markets.
R. GABRIELLE SWAB, PH.D., is an
Assistant Professor in the Department
of Management at Towson University.
She received her Ph.D. in Management
from The University of Mississippi.
Her research interests include competition
and cooperation, with a focus on these influences in
teams, entrepreneurs, and family firms. She has industry
experience in sales, project management, and entrepreneurial
consulting.
STELLA TOMASI, PH.D., is an Associate
Professor in the Department of
Business Analytics and Technology
Management at Towson University.
She started her career as a chemist in
the pharmaceutical industry in Philadelphia,
and then moved onto to a consulting position
at Accenture working with pharma companies such as
Wyeth, Pfizer, and Merck leading teams in clinical data
management prior to coming to Towson University.
Her research interests include information visualization,
business process management and knowledge
management, social media, supply chain, and teaching
pedagogy. Her research articles have appeared in various
journals such as the Behavior & Information Technology,
International Journal of Information Systems and
Change Management, Journal of Electronic Commerce
in Organizations, Journal of Systems and Information
Technology, International Journal of Project Organization
and Management, International Journal of
Data Analysis and Information Systems, INFORMS
Transactions on Education and Journal of Educators
