On January 11th, 1897, Dr. Mayo came to visit the Maryland State Normal School to give a lecture on education. Dr. Mayo was a famous doctor who revolutionized medical practice in the 1800’s. Despite his impact on the medical community, mayonnaise has been around since 1756; so, if kids during that time had any sense of humor, a few chuckles must have slipped out of some of the school’s more lighthearted students.
