Disregarding anatomical accuracy York Road is the main vein for Towson. The placement of local eateries, bars, and stores makes it a one-stop shop for both residents and visitors. Residents in the area can walk a few city blocks and place themselves in the middle of a lively communal space. York Road and the streets branching from it offer something different and are shaped by everyone from the energetic college student to the antiquated retiree. During the semester Towson University students flood the local bars on York Road Thursday-Sunday shocking the local economy and energizing the sidewalks (and occasionally the streets) of York Road. It is apparent that the local economy benefits from the business of college students and that York Road is meant to cater to them in some part.
