Abstract: Eastern and Central European nations are once again experiencing a resurgent nationalist ideology. Through analysis of the recent history of the region and the political impact  of these events, this article will provide a framework for understanding the advent of a nationalist ideology unique to East-Central Europe .  Focusing on Eastern nationalism, which contains Communist and revolutionary patterns rather than Western nationalism, which is based on national self-determination and appreciation for the rule of law, this work will argue for the validity of the concept, national Communism, and shed light on the development of this phenomenon within East and Central Europe. Using Titoism, national antagonism between East and West Germany,  and analysis of policy implications of the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia as case studies, this article traces the historical development and current standing of nationalism in East-Central Europe.
