Feeling anxious about your Calculus or Statistics class? Do you have any questions about the MNGT 481 comprehensive exam or BUSX 460? Look no further – here are some tips for these CBE program milestones!
Calculus (MATH 211/273) and Statistics (ECON 205/MATH 231)
Calculus and statistics are difficult classes for anyone. It is important to allocate time each day to work on the assignments, study/memorize any formulas weeks before the exam, and use all resources that are available to you as a Towson student.
Spend as much time as you can each day working on assignments for these courses; whether that is 30 minutes or 2 hours, it will pay off come exam time when you aren’t rushing to learn the material. Any new formulas should be studied weeks prior to the exam, not the day of or even the day before. If you practice using the formula several times before the test, it will help you better understand how to solve the problem. If you get stumped, utilize any available office hours with your professor, develop a study group with fellow classmates, and attend any TU Peer-Assisted Learning tutoring sessions in Cook Library or the York Road building. Keep in mind that it is still important to practice each problem on your own in addition to working with other students.

MNGT 481 Comprehensive Exam
In MNGT 481, there is a comprehensive exam that you must take. ALL accounting, business administration, and e-business majors are required to take the exam. You will take this class as a senior in the program once you have completed all of the course prerequisites (FIN 331, MKTG 341, MNGT 361, EBTM 365, and BUSX 301). Keep in mind that you also need to have at least 90 credits to enroll in MNGT 481.
The comprehensive exam covers critical business knowledge and skills learned in your previous courses throughout the program. This exam includes material from the following courses:
- ACCT 201 and ACCT 202
- BUSX 301
- EBTM 337, EBTM 350, and EBTM 365
- ECON 201 and ECON 202
- FIN 331
- LEGL 225
- MKTG 341 and MNGT 361
This exam counts for 10% of your final grade in the course. We recommend that you keep all of your notes and from the above courses, pay attention and ask questions, and make friends in these classes.
If you have already taken some of these courses and did not save your notes, you can ask someone that was in the same class if they still have them. You can also go on online or to Cook Library to find the textbook that was used in the class and study the material that way. It is important to take good notes from these courses, so it is easier to study when you are preparing for the exam.

BUSX 460 Internship Course
This is probably the most important course you will take as part of the program. You will take this class as a senior once you have completed all of the course prerequisites (FIN 331, MKTG 341, MNGT 361, and BUSX 301). You will also need to have at least 90 credits to enroll in BUSX 460.
BUSX 460 requires an approved internship in order to receive class credit. Begin to look for an internship early, attend a mandatory BUSX 460 information session, and communicate with your employer. It can take some time to build a resume and to interview before you find an internship, so make sure to begin these processes early. Attend one of the mandatory BUSX 460 information sessions – you will need to do so in order to even enroll in the class. Once you find an internship, speak with your employer about the course, and submit your internship for approval as soon as possible to ensure that it meets all of the requirements. Internships submitted for Spring 2018 will be reviewed between now and January 12, 2018. Internship submissions will not be accepted after January 12, 2018 at 3 p.m.
