Have you met with your advisor yet? If not, it’s time to set up an appointment. We want to inform you about different tools that you have access to as CBE students to ensure that you are on the right track to continue to excel this semester.
CBE Website and PeopleSoft (Towson Online Service)
You can find an abundance of information between the CBE website and Peoplesoft. One important feature that students need to know about is how to set up an appointment with your advisor through the CBE website. To do this, you first want to pull up the Towson University website. After that, select Academics> College of Business and Economics> Faculty & Staff> Student Academic & Career Services Staff. From here, you should be able to find your advisor and schedule an appointment with your advisor (to find out who your advisor is, login to Peoplesoft> Self-Service> Student Center). If you see that your advisor does not have an option to schedule an appointment, then emailing them will suffice. It’s important to note that all students also have the option to meet with CBE Student Consultants. Selecting the “Student Consultants” link under “Staff” will allow you to send an email if you have any questions.
From the “Staff” section of the Student Academics and Career Services page, you can also find your academic advising forms. Under “Related Links”, select Advising> Advising Forms. At this point, you can find your advising form by your major as well as your minor. You want to be sure to select the form that correlates with your academic catalog year; you must ensure that you are getting the most accurate form possible relative to your personal academic requirements. Instructions for completing your Degree Completion Plan can also be found on this page.
You want to make sure you stay on top of all of these things mentioned above, so that you have the best chance to excel this semester. It is important to have a good relationship with your advisor for both academic and career purposes. Also, depending on your credit amount, you are required to meet with your advisor at least once a semester to remove the advising hold from your account in order to register for classes for the next term. Although, it is recommended that you meet with your advisor even if you do not have a hold on your account just to be sure that you are on track.
Continue to do your best in your classes and finish the semester strong! See you next Wednesday for another edition of CBE Connect!
