Undergraduate Researchers:

Tonge Enoh

Tonge Enoh was an undergraduate student and member of the Honors College at Towson University, majoring in Health Education and Promotion, with an expected graduation date in May 2022. Tonge’s deep interest in both public health and medicine led her to join Dr. Ming Li’s research team to learn more about public health genomics from 2020. Tonge has participated in Towson University’s College of Health Profession’s Summer Undergraduate Research Institute in 2020 and 2021, during which she conducted research on a qualitative whole genome sequencing project mentored by Dr. Li. Tonge won the 2020 Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry Research Impact Award. Tonge has also been awarded the 2021 Neil E. Gallagher Endowed Scholarship from Towson University’s Department of Health Science. Tonge’s professional goals are to become a physician and public health practitioner. Tonge is an aspiring portrait photographer, and in her free time, she enjoys reading African literature and watching documentaries.

Abigail Rieland

Abigail is currently an undergraduate student and member of the Honors College at Towson University. She is majoring in Exercise Science with an expected graduation date in May 2023. She plans on pursuing a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy after her time at Towson. Abigail’s interest in healthcare and medicine led her to participate in Dr. Ming Li’s research team to learn more about public health disparities. She is participating in Towson University’s College of Health Profession’s Summer Undergraduate Research Institute during the summer of 2022. Abigail is the president of the Towson University Women’s Soccer Club and enjoys running in her free time.

Bethany DePalo

Bethany is currently an undergraduate student at Towson University, majoring in public health with a concentration in community health. She is expected to graduate in December 2023 after completing her internship at Goucher College Student Health and Wellness Center. She also was the special events chair for Fusion Dance Team for the 2022-2023 academic year, where she helped create Towson’s very first intercollegiate dance competition. Bethany became interested in collaborating with Dr. Li’s research team because she wanted to apply the skills she developed from her minor in disability studies. Although she completed service learning at the Hussman Center for Autistic Adults, she hoped to learn even more about the autistic community. Bethany will be participating in Towson University’s College of Health Profession Summer Undergraduate Research Institute during the summer of 2023.

Graduate Assistants: 

Jillian Weinman (master’s student)

Jillian Weinman is currently a first-year graduate student at Towson University. She is pursuing a Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and will graduate in May 2024. Jillian previously attended University of Maryland where she majored in Linguistics (B.A.) & Hearing and Speech Sciences (B.A.). She was an undergraduate research assistant for three years, working on projects regarding language development and perception. Jillian’s academic and clinical experiences with autism spectrum disorders led her to join Dr. Li’s research project on ASD and genomic testing. Jillian’s future goals include practicing as a medical SLP with a focus on neurogenic communication disorders and continuing to work on research projects related to her career field.

 

Trevor McKay (master’s student)

 

Trevor McKay is majoring in Psychology (M.A.) with a counseling psychology concentration. Trevor’s interests include the LGBTQ+ community, Autism, ADHD, Positive Psychology, and Substance Use. The research projects Trevor has worked on are parents’ attitudes toward ASD genetic testing and factors influencing communication and family health history communication. Trevor’s future career goals include becoming an LCPC to work with vulnerable individuals, continuing to conduct research and contribute to publications, and consider seeking a doctoral degree to further education in psychology.

 

Radhika Kansangra (doctoral student)

 

Radhika Kansangra is currently a third year Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) student at Towson University with an expected graduation date of May 2024. Radhika’s interests in the field of Audiology include: cochlear implants, cognition in relation to hearing loss and working with the adult population. Radhika’s interest in research led her to participate in Dr. Li’s team on a health disparity research project. Radhika’s future goals include becoming an audiologist specializing with implanted devices, continuing to contribute to publications and considering seeking a post-doctorate Ph.D. degree further education in audiology research.
