Program Elements:
ELEVATE Workshop 1 : In-person Winter workshop on January 22, 2025 (snow date Jan. 23, 2025)
Funded Summer Coursework: Receive full tuition and fees funding* for two online courses during the 1st and 2nd 5 week sessions of Summer 2025 (from end of May to beginning of August). Participants will also receive stipends for textbooks and reimbursement for TRE and ESOL Praxis exams* registration fees. You are required to take the ESOL and TRE Praxis exams within a designated window of time. Courses are listed below:

- ELED 452, Summer Session 5W1, May 27-July 1, online
- SPED 470, Summer Session 5W2, July 3-August 6, online
- ELEVATE Workshop 2: ESOL Praxis and multilingual learner review, August 7
- ELEVATE Workshop 3: TRE and literacy review, January 2026 (date TBD)
*Passing scores on these two exams allow you to apply for MD ESOL endorsement.
*Tuition is free at the in-state rate; out of state students may be responsible for the balance.

ELEVATE stands for, Enhancing Literacy for English Learners: Valuing Assets Through Engagement. Whatever field of education TU’s preparing you for, English Learners will be students in your future classroom. ELEVATE coursework and workshops will help you to enhance your English Learner Students’ language acquisition, social-emotional wellbeing, and literacy skills. The best part of this program: you can apply for ESOL endorsement and you will have up-to-date knowledge and skills for serving your linguistically diverse learners!
So, what does the ELEVATE scholarship include? Two fully funded intensive ESOL courses, offered during the summer, along with book stipends, reimbursement for registration costs for TRE and ESOL Praxis exams and prep modules and workshops to help build your skills and prepare for Praxis exams.
So, who can apply to the ELEVATE program? All education majors are invited to apply!
