EMPTY BOWLS

Rich Holt has participated in the “Empty Bowls” event at St. Vincent de Paul for a decade or so as a bowl maker. However, it wasn’t until about 4 years ago that colleague and adjunct professor, Mary Cloonan suggested they host the bowl making workshops at Towson University. It has been a fantastic way to get to know the local community while serving those less fortunate than us. Our partnership with St. Vincent de Paul has been fantastic. The workshops at Towson along with donations from students and faculty result in about 3-400 bowls being made for the main event held in March of each year. Read more…

BIO: Richard Holt

Visiting Assistant Professor, Ceramics Area Coordinator, Towson University | Education: MFA Studio Art- Ceramics, Towson University | BA Towson University. Rich Holt has been a Baltimore resident for 25 years. His ceramic work consists of sculptural, self-reflective figures and whimsical, wheel thrown vessels. He is co-creator of Claymonster Pottery with his wife Cat Audette Holt.

Everything Is Wonderful, by Chelsea Marcantel and directed by Noah Himmelstein is now open at Everyman Theatre in Baltimore, MD. This production features three of TU’s very own Department of Theatre Arts faculty; scenic design by Professor Daniel Ettinger, dialect coaching by Professor Steven Satta, and dramaturgy by Professor and Chairperson, Robyn Quick.
