Bill or other VA benefits towards a study abroad experience. This post highlights some opportunities and scholarships that may be of interest to you!

The Vietnamese Wars in Global Context: Explore Vietnam and Cambodia with Towson University in summer 2022! Learn about U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War along with the experiences of other nations during, before, and after the American Vietnam War, or as the Vietnamese refer to it, “The American War.” Spend time in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Hanoi, Hoi An, Phnom Penh, and more. Program highlights include visits to National War Museum, the War Remnants Museum, and the Air Force Museum; excursions to the Cu Chi tunnels between North and South Vietnam near the DMZ and the renowned temple complex at Angkor Wat; and an overnight cruise on the Mekong River.

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program: The CLS is a fully funded summer study abroad opportunity for American college and university students to learn languages essential to America’s engagement with the world. Languages offered: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, Urdu. The deadline for summer 2022 programs is November 16, 2021.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. The Gilman Scholarship Program aims to broaden the student population that studies and interns abroad and encourages students to travel to a diverse array of countries or world regions and take part in language study. Veterans of military service are encouraged to apply, and preference is given to veterans when other factors are equivalent. Over 3,600 scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded this academic year.

The Gilman McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs.

Give (Gi Veterans Excellence) Award: International Studies Abroad (ISA) offers a wide range of affordable, culturally engaging opportunities including study abroad, international internships, and service-learning programs in more than 30 countries. The Education Abroad Network (TEAN) are the experts in Asia Pacific, providing immersive study abroad and internship programs throughout the region with an emphasis on environmentally and socially responsible experiences. Both ISA and TEAN are approved affiliate partners of TU Study Abroad. ISA and TEAN provide a 5% supplemental scholarship to G.I. Bill recipients who are participating in an ISA or TEAN study abroad or internship program.

Military Service Scholarship: USAC is an approved affiliate partner of TU Study Abroad, and offers more than 50 affordable, authentic study abroad programs in 26 countries from every region of the world. USAC strives to provide students with ample opportunities to become engaged, global citizens with options for internships, volunteering, and service-learning as well. All degree-seeking U.S. Military Personnel (active or veteran status) and their dependents (child or spouse) with a minimum 2.5 GPA are eligible for this scholarship.

AIFS Overseas Ambassador Scholarship: An approved affiliate partner of TU Study Abroad, AIFS offers a wide range of unique programs in Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa and the Americas. Most AIFS campuses offer courses in English or in foreign languages from beginner to advanced levels, so you don’t even have to know a foreign language to study abroad. $500 scholarships for outstanding students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in study abroad, including veterans.
