The Senior Systems Engineer position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining multiple services managed by the Solutions Engineering team. The position serves as a primary resource for specific services, acts as a secondary/backup engineer for remaining services, performs as a technical lead on projects, performs monitoring and maintenance of services, offers guidance to other engineers, ensures reliability and security of services, and provides quality customer support. The senior-level engineer position will focus more heavily on design and planning than on operations and support.
The Solutions Engineering team is responsible for most of the enterprise services that the university community directly interacts with including Microsoft 365, cloud services (Azure and AWS), email services, enterprise file shares, collaboration services/groupware, web publishing services, virtual desktop infrastructure, enterprise desktop and mobile device management, application delivery/software distribution, printing services, certain remote access services, database services (like Microsoft SQL Server), certain business app support, scripting and web development for internal tools and automation to support the services. The Senior Systems Engineer may have varying levels of involvement with most, if not all, of these services. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
