Towson University is accepting applications for a Senior Systems Engineer in the Office of Technology Services (OTS). This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of multiple systems, services, and infrastructure managed by the Platform Engineering team. The position serves as a primary resource for specific services, acts as a secondary/backup engineer for remaining services, performs server and infrastructure maintenance, advises on best practices, and helps to develop methods and standards. The position also serves in a consulting role to other technology personnel and ensures the reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness of platforms and services. As a senior-level engineer, the position will focus more heavily on design and planning than on operations and support. This position also requires significant collaboration and coordination within the Platform Engineering team, and with other groups and individuals in the Office of Technology Services. The position is regularly involved in significant projects as a technical lead and in project planning, and also manages the execution of specific initiatives. This position also has a programming/scripting component, particularly, in writing and updating scripts and automation to deploy and administer servers, manage systems, and gather actionable data. The position will also be responsible for writing and updating documentation and helping to develop enterprise policies and procedures.
