SleepIn app allows for virtual snooze when school cancels classes

There is nothing like waking up, getting ready for school and heading out only to find out class has been canceled. Many people could use a few extra hours of sleep.
Jal Irani, a computer science lecturer at Towson University, created the SleepIn app. He’s is a former student at the school who came up with the idea along with a partner back in grad school.

2018 Diversity Summit | Maryland Center For Women In Computing (MCWIC)

Maryland Center for Women in Computing is hosting the Diversity in Computing Summit, a one-day workshop designed for all advocates of underrepresented groups in computing fields. Through informative workshops and dynamic speakers, they will emphasize inclusive computing–efforts that address the positive impact that underrepresented groups have and will continue to have on the future of technology.

2/19/18 Speaker Event: Bethany Meyer Will Speak About Entrepreneurship as a CTO

Come hear Bethany Meyer, Co-Founder and CTO of CourseArc speak about entrepreneurship as a CTO at 5 pm on February 19, 2018 in YR459. She was nominated as CTO of the Year in 2017 and spoke at Baltimore Innovation Week.

Bethany Meyer taught herself to code as a teenager and went on to earn a B.S. in Information Systems from UMBC in 2008. Before starting a company, she worked at T. Rowe Price and MGH while freelancing on the side. In 2015, she made the jump into entrepreneurship, and co-founded CourseArc, a digital content creation platform for online courses. Bethany has a passion for making people’s lives easier with technology and often speaks at HowGirlsCode events. RSVP HERE
