What is the cost for the SPLASH Summer Class?

The class will cost $250 to the student if admitted.

Does the student have to attend the class at a certain time every day?

No. This class is completely online with recorded sessions that the student can access at any point. There are labs and assignments that are due at a certain time/date. The student will be supplied with a syllabus that includes the due dates, along with links to the labs, assignments, and videos.

How do we submit the application and other paperwork?

The applicant will want to forward the application, an official paper copy of the transcripts, and SAT test scores to:

  • As there are no major courses of computer class in high schools for credits, this program gives an opportunity for students to explore new technology and method of learning.
What are the prerequisites for applying?

To participate in the High School Parallel Enrollment program, students must have a B average and either an SAT score of 500 on each section of the SAT, a 50 on the PSAT, or at least a 21 on the ACT. Home-schooled students must submit the most recent evaluation from the supervising organization, as well as any standardized test results. Prior Computer Science and computer programming experience is not necessary.

What is the minimum grade in order to get the credits?

The course is a college course that will assign regular grades (A, B, C, D, F, etc.). The student will receive credit for the course irrespective of the grade, however, if the grade is below a certain level (a ‘D’ for Towson University), you may not be able to transfer the course for credit to the undergraduate degree. The acceptable grade is dependent on the college to which the credits are being transferred.

How many hours a week will a student spend on the class?

The student will typically spend at least 7 hours per week on the course.

Will the student have to come to Towson for any classes?

We will have a kick-off meeting for local students to meet the staff and possibly have a few other in-person meetings, but these are not mandatory.
