Accounting Intern

Summary: Computes, classifies, records, and verifies procedures for use in accounts payable processing by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
- Posts routine journal entries from source documents.
- Receives assignment from supervisor.
- Observes daily accounts payable and related activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
- Interviews appropriate accounting staff and reads manuals, guidelines, and current outlined procedures to become familiar with methods.
- Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Works in coordination with accounting supervisory staff to review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.
- Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
- Creates print screens, diagrams, and flow charts to illustrate material.
- Prepares or arranges for preparation of index.
- Assists in laying out material for publication.
- Arranges for formatting, reproduction, and distribution of material.
- Tests procedures for accuracy and efficiency:
- Prepares and reviews vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers.
- Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
- Assists with accounts payable and special projects, as necessary.
Education/Experience:
- Currently attending an accredited University pursuing a degree in Accounting
