Utilizing Your PeopleSoft Student Center

Having a hard time surfing through your student account? It’s crucial to be familiar with your PeopleSoft Student Center because it has tons of great academic information and most importantly this is where you register for your classes. Here are helpful tips to get through your PeopleSoft account. First, you will need to use your Towson username and password to login.

There are two ways to log in:

  1. Go to Towson.edu> My TU> Towson Online Services/PeopleSoft.
  2. Google ‘Towson Online Services’ and it is the first link that you will click on.

As you can see in the image below, the student center has categories of Academic Requirements, Finances, Holds, To Do list, Milestones, Enrollment Dates, and Advisor etc.

In your Student Center, there are many useful resources such as links to Declare Major/Minor, Applying for graduation, viewing your academic Academic Requirements, and the Advising What-If Report (in the drop-down menu to the left of your schedule). The Advising What-If Report lets you simulate and observe potential courses you would be required to take, if you take a certain major or minor. It’s a useful tool if you are hesitant or unsure how many credits you need to graduate or if you want to add in a minor or do a double major.

Most importantly, you want to make sure there aren’t any holds on your account. Some holds will prevent you from registering for your upcoming courses, for example the Academic Advising Hold. If you have an Advising Hold, this means that you will need to schedule an appointment with your advisor and meet with them in-person; after you have done so, the hold will be lifted from your account.

Lastly, under ‘Enrollment Dates,’ you are able to see and click on the link exactly what time and when you can start to register for your upcoming semester. This is helpful to know ahead of time, so you have an idea of what classes you should be taking for the upcoming semester.

If you have any academic questions, it’s a good practice to try to use your PeopleSoft account and utilize the Student Center homepage before asking questions directly to your advisor or visiting the SACS office.
