It’s that time of year again, CBE students! Let’s get your resumes ready, schedule mock interviews, and practice your elevator pitch. If you are a student who is looking for a job or an internship, then this is the event you NEED to attend.
So save the date! CBE’s Career Ready Day will take place on Friday, October 5th in the West Village Commons Ballrooms from 11:00am to 2:00pm. At this career and internship fair (open only to CBE students), you will find participating employers like Enterprise, Kohl’s, Sherwin Williams, and many more.
If you plan to attend this event, here are some tips to help you make it a successful, positive experience:
- Dress for the job you want. This event can be the next stop towards your dream job, so let’s get those suits out of the closet! Business professional attire is recommended, so dress as though you are going to an interview.
- Mix and Mingle! It is all about networking and body language (the keys are good eye-contact and a strong handshake); show you are interested and apply your interpersonal communication skills.
- Research a company you’re interested in ahead of time! Asking the right questions and demonstrating that you already know something about a company will show that you have done your research and show your interest-level in obtaining employment. Also, don’t forget to ask for business cards!
This is your time to show that you are more than a resume; it’s your chance to talk about your strengths and weaknesses, and everything that makes you unique. Attending a career/internship event like this automatically means that you are one step closer to achieving your career goals!
Good luck, and see you there!
