Accounting Students – CBE Makes Your Wish of Finding a Job/Internship Come True!

Don’t you wish there was place you could go and companies are just waiting to hire you?  Well, good news: CBE has made your wish come true! The Accounting Open House is your opportunity to stand out; this is an exclusive event you will not want to miss, whether your goal is to obtain an internship or a full-time position.

On October 5th, from 11 am – 2 pm in the West Village Commons Ballrooms, you will find 38+ accounting and business advisory firms from the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan Area who are looking for driven, hard-working, and proactive soon-to-be-accountants to have a role on their company – meaning YOU, Towson Tiger!

Now let’s talk about some tips for you to shine if you plan to attend:

5 Tips to Exceed Expectations

  1. Do not to wear Jeans! Dress Professionally and remember that you can only make a first impression once!
  2. Update Your Resume If you need help building or updating your resume, the Career Center is the place to go.
  3. Towson loves to recycle, but do Bring Your Resume! Print at least 20 resumes; it’s better to be safe than to run out of resumes when employers are asking for them!
  4. Practice Your Answers. Prepare an elevator pitch
    1. The Career Center has an on-line program called Big Interview to help you prepare for interviewing.
    2. Schedule a mock interview appointment with the Career Center through Handshake.
  5. Be Polite and Courteous from the second you enter the parking lot; you never know if you will be running into the person who will interview you as they get out of their car too.
  6. Be a Detective. Take some time to research the companies you will be meeting; it gives you an advantage to know about the company and to pre-select the ones you prefer to try to meet with.

Who is coming?

You are probably wondering who will actually be at this event. Some of the major employers are:

  • Cohen & Company
  • Ellin & Tucker
  • KPMG
  • SB&Company, LLC
  • SC&H Group, Inc.
  • Grant Thorton

Get out there! Make an impact, make mistakes, and get practice for interviews (everyone needs practice!). Don’t hesitate! Even if it’s too early to get an internship/job, the worst thing that can happen is that you will make professional connections, get your name out there, and improve your interviewing skills.

We wish you success and encourage you to have fun meeting people who could be your future employer!
