The department of Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.
This position MAY lead to a career in the federal government’s Information and Arts field, such as an Technical Writer-Editor.

Full Potential Level Following a Conversion: GS-11 grade level, based on the directorate you are placed in within the organization.
Who May Apply:
Students who are eligible for participation in the Department of the Army Internship Program
Positions are open to current students pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution.
Duties
As an intern, within one of our many directorates located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, you will be assigned to a senior specialist or group of specialists. You will be assigned tasks designed to familiarize you with different aspects of the occupation, and receive on the job training. Tasks will vary depending on the senior specialist’s current workload, but may include the following:
- Assist higher graded employees performing work involving writing or editing technical materials, such as reports of research findings; scientific or technical articles, news releases, and periodicals; regulations in technical areas; technical manuals, specifications, brochures, and pamphlets; or speeches or scripts on scientific or technical subjects.
- Technical writers and technical editors draw on a substantial knowledge of a particular subject-matter area, such as the natural or social sciences, engineering, law, or other fields.
- The work involves the development of information and analysis to select and present information on the specialized subject in a form and at a level suitable for the intended audience
