Purchasing & Inventory Intern

Summary Compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of material by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Communicates regularly via telephone, email, fax, in person, postal mail, etc. with suppliers, shippers, and personnel of Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe, Inc.
- Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.
- Searches inventory records to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.
- Consults catalogs and suppliers to obtain prices and specifications and recommends supplier to utilize.
- Creates purchase order and sends copy to supplier and accounts payable.
- Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, and deliveries.
- Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
- Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and places orders with suppliers.
- Adheres to established spending procedures.
- Assigns accurate information to required fields of purchasing and inventory records
- Performs other parts transactions as directed.
- Serves as the contact person and coordinator for parts running.
- Adheres to safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
- Reports food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
Education/Experience:
- Currently attending accredited institution
