Bio

Currently, I am a Professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice at Towson University in Maryland. My research projects explore the global expansion of human rights and world heritage; the rationalization of beer brewing from medieval monasteries to the present day; and (most recently) the sacred dimensions of comic-con fan communities.  In the classroom, I currently teach Introduction to Sociology, Living in a World Society, Sociological Theory, and Water as a Global Problem (in the Honors College).  I received my Ph.D. in sociology from Emory University in 2008.
