In an effort to facilitate ongoing professional learning of district teaching staff, interns, and Towson University staff, the Towson LEAP grant supports the design and implementation of school-based Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
PLCs designed on the topics of:
- Social Emotional Learning (focus on Early Childhood)
- Supporting Multilingual Learners in the General Education Classroom
The goal of each PLC is to increase knowledge of each topic and result in the application of learning in the school setting in ways that positively impact students. PLC design and content draw from current research and best practices for student results.
PLCs are co-facilitated by a Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) teacher and a Towson University staff member. Participation in each PLC is extended to HCPSS teachers, Towson University interns, and Towson University staff. PLCs have synchronous and asynchronous learning components supported in an online learning platform.
