Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)

To support ongoing professional development for district teachers, interns, and Towson University staff, the LEAP and LIFT grants fund school-based PLCs. These communities aim to deepen topic knowledge and promote practices that positively impact students. Each PLC is grounded in research and best practices.

PLCs are co-facilitated by Howard County Public School or Anne Arundel County National Board-Certified Teachers and Towson University staff. Participants include classroom teachers, TU interns, and TU faculty. PLCs are paid opportunities featuring both synchronous and asynchronous learning via an online platform.

PLC Topics Include:

  • LEAP Grant:
    • Social Emotional Learning (Early Childhood & Secondary)
    • Supporting Multilingual Learners (K–12)
    • Fresh Takes: Supportive Learning Environments, Differentiation, Literacy Across Content Areas, Reflective Practice
