The purpose of the course is to introduce students to research methods and their application to problems in psychological research. The course includes the study of different research methods (e.g., experiments, correlational studies, quasi-experimental designs, small n designs, etc.). The course also provides the opportunity to design research studies, analyze data, and report findings in APA publication format. This course is designed to help further develop basic critical thinking skills. It should enhance student’s abilities to assess research findings that they encounter in everyday life, and will enable them to better deconstruct the quality and support of arguments.
