Dr. Jeffrey M. Kenton is an associate professor in the department of Educational Technology and Literacy (EDTL). His research interests are in the fields of instructional technology, learning theories, and information searching strategies. Since 2016, Dr. Kenton has taught a number of graduate courses related to Assessment, Instructional Technology Foundations, Technology Integration, and Learning Theories. Dr. Kenton also teaches an undergraduate seminar course on the role of technology in learning and living in a digital age.

From 2009-2016, Dr. Kenton coordinated a very successful NCATE site visit, with 25 SPA reports all nationally recognized. The Institutional Report and its 750+ exhibits and appendices were well-received by the national and state review teams. The result of the accreditation visit was a finding of “Continuing Accreditation”, valid until 2021.

Prior to becoming the assistant dean, he taught a broad range of courses in the EDTL department, served on numerous doctoral committees (chairing two successful committees), and was program director for the MS program in Instructional Technology.

Prior to coming to Towson in the Fall of 2002, he earned his PhD in Education from Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!), and served there for four years as a Systems Support Specialist for the College of Agriculture and the College of Education. He earned his master’s degree in Education from Iowa State University, and his bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Iowa.

Prior to his time in post-secondary education, he spent a year as an exchange student in Switzerland (Hopp Schwiiz!!), and graduated from high school in southwestern Iowa. He grew up in Mitchell SD.
