Howard County Public School System

All Interns and Practicum Students

  1. FYI Fingerprinting relies completely on the HCPSS Preservice Database.
    • College of Education interns and School Psychology practicum students are already in the database so they can go ahead to be fingerprinted.
    • Interns in other colleges (music, art, PE, dance, SLP,  etc.) shall only be fingerprinted once their supervisor informs them of a confirmed placement. Interns who show up for fingerprinting without a confirmed placement in the database will not be seen.
  2. Interns must review the packet and complete the top portion of the HCPSS Fingerprinting Procedure and Pre-Registration Form 2025. Interns do not complete the Agency Information section. Bring the completed top portion of the application to your fingerprinting appointment.
  3. Interns must be fingerprinting by July 18 or at least 4 weeks before internship begins if internship starts late.

What if I have been fingerprinted recently by another organization in Maryland?

  1. HCPSS does not accept fingerprint background checks from other organizations. All full-time interns, Speech and Language Pathology students, and School Psychology Practicum Students must be fingerprinted by HCPSS.
  2. If you have been fingerprinted by HCPSS within the last 365 days, you will not need to be fingerprinted again. Please email Ms. Barbara Liberto at barbara_liberto@hcpss.org and CC Ms. Jennifer Mascott at jennifer_mascott@hcpss.org if you have been an active substitute for the district.
