Howard County Public School System

All Interns and Practicum Students

  1. FYI Fingerprinting relies completely on the HCPSS Preservice Database.
    • College of Education interns and School Psychology practicum students are already in the database so they can go ahead to be fingerprinted.
    • Interns in other colleges (music, art, PE, dance, SLP,  etc.) shall only be fingerprinted once their supervisor informs them of a confirmed placement. Interns who show up for fingerprinting without a confirmed placement in the database will not be seen.
  2. Interns must review the packet and complete the top portion of the HCPSS Fingerprinting Procedure and LIVESCAN Pre-Registration Form. Interns do not complete the Agency Information section. Bring the completed top portion of the application to your fingerprinting appointment.
  3. Interns must be fingerprinting by Dec 13 or at least 4 weeks before internship begins if internship starts late.

What if I have been fingerprinted recently by another organization in Maryland?

  1. If you have been fingerprinted by HCPSS within the last 365 days, you will not need to be fingerprinted again.
  2. If you have been fingerprinted by another district within the last 365 days, please complete the top portion of the Maryland 365 form with the 12-digit reference number from your most previous background check. Email the 365 form to Ms. Barbara Liberto (barbara_liberto@hcpss.org) and CC Ms. Jennifer Mascott (jennifer_mascott@hcpss.org).
  3. You should have received a letter from the State of Maryland with your previous background check results. The 12-digit number above the barcode on this letter is the reference number you must enter into the 365 form.
