The COE Diversity Award is awarded annually to a faculty or staff member within the College of Education whose work has advanced the cause of diversity in a meaningful way. This work may include urban education, focus on socioeconomic diversity, race, culture, gender and sexuality, religion and belief, or ability. The faculty member’s contributions may take the form of scholarship (including published research, grant awards and other research), mentoring of students, PDS work, course development, service, and other creative or community-minded activities. Nominations may come from students, faculty, or administration, and self-nominations are acceptable. Nominations should be in the form of a 1-2 page letter to the Awards Committee and should address the nature of the nominee’s contribution, its significance, and what measurable impact the nominee’s contribution has had on the field, the College, and/or the Baltimore community. The award includes a $100 stipend for the awardee.
