The CBE Fall Career Fair, which was held Friday, Oct. 9, drew in nearly 100 CBE students and 16 local employers.
Meghan Behm, a Professional Development Partner (PDP), says the career fair is an opportunity for CBE students to seek out internships within their major and area of concentration.
Some of the attending employers included Target, Sherwin Williams, and Stanley Black and Decker. These are employers who have a long history of hiring TU CBE students for internships and jobs, and they attend the career fairs each year because they look forward to the high-quality students that come from TU’s CBE.
“The employers like this event because if they are seeking specifically business students, they don’t have to sift through dozens of other majors to find ours,” Behm says.
Like the Accounting Open House that occurred Sept. 25 of this year, the Fall CBE Career Fair existed virtually on Handshake to ensure participant safety. The Handshake fair platform enables students to sign up for one-on-one or group session time slots to meet with a participating employer. Using the platform was a success for both the open house and career fair.
“We learned from our previous events that Handshake is easy for our students and employers to use,” says Behm.
“While the virtual setting will never replace the networking that takes place in-person, I feel like it was a success for the students and employers who participated.”
