Student teams went head to head and put their knowledge to work coming up with solutions for organizations both large and small at the annual CBE Fall Case Competition.
The annual competition features challenges related to supply chain management and marketing intelligence. This year featured real-life cases presented by the Wye River Upper School and PANDORA.
The marketing intelligence teams spent weeks researching, compiling digital marketing, and messaging solutions for the Wye River Upper School in Centerville, Md. Located in an area with a low population density and having a unique mission, the school was looking for ways to improve how it reaches its target audience.
“The Towson students took thoughtful notes and worked for several weeks to analyze our current marketing profile as well as our messaging in order to come up with an action plan to help us reach our goals,” said Katie Theeke, the school’s Director of Admissions and Communications. “Each [team] offered something different and suggestions that we can utilize. We were impressed not only with the outcome of ideas but also with the way the students presented themselves.”
The supply chain management teams tackled a case from PANDORA. The challenge presented students with a scenario regarding a new process for holiday jewelry gift sets. The teams were asked to consider various solutions regarding the supply chain to ensure the sets were shipped by the deadline.
The first place teams in both supply chain and marketing each received $300 and the second place teams earned $200. The winning supply chain team will advance to the Weinman Cup Competition hosted by the college in the spring.
