Blackboard Known Issues

Issue

When you create a rubric and attach it to an assignment, you should be able to grade an assignment, then remove the rubric from the graded content and edit it. However, regardless of whether or not it is attached to an assignment, the rubric is no longer able to be edited.

Workaround

The current workaround is to remove the rubric from the assignment and create a copy of it. Make the necessary edits to the copy and delete the original rubric, then attach the copy to the assignment.

Potential Resolution Date

Blackboard Inc. is aware of this known issue. At this time, this issue will not fixed.

Issue

When the SafeAssign option is enabled for an assignment, it cannot be turned off for the assignment once it has been saved. If the assignment is edited and SafeAssign is unchecked, the setting will not save.

Workaround

If an assignment needs to have SafeAssign turned off, you have two options:

  1. Delete the assignment and create a new one. Please note: If you delete an assignment that already has submissions, the submissions will be deleted along with the assignment.
  2. Check the box that says "Exclude submissions from the Institutional and Global References Databases". This will still run the assignment through SafeAssign, but it will not be saved to the SafeAssign database and will be treated as a draft in SafeAssign.

Potential Resolution Date

Blackboard Inc. is aware of this known issue and are working on a resolution. At this time, there is no known date that this will be resolved, but we will continue to update this page if there are any changes.

Issue

If a user has a draft submission for an assignment which they already have a completed submission for, and the instructor attempts to download the most recent files for the assignment, the download will fail.

Workaround

On the "Download Attempt" page, select "All attempt files", not "last attempt files".

Issue

In the Original View, copying a course into a destination course (also in Original View) will not copy and give an error.

Workaround

Use the Export and Import functions if you would like to remain on Original courses. If the new course is an Ultra course, the copying will continue to work.

Issue

In an Ultra course, when an instructor tries to reorder multiple choice answers, the question is saved and shows correctly. However, if the instructor leaves the tests and returns, the answers are in the original ordering. This only happens when the correct answer has been selected prior to the reordering of the answers.

Workaround

Uncheck the correct answer, reorder the answers, then select the correct answer again. This should prevent the issue from occurring.

Issue

When using groups and group assignments, if a student is switched from one group to another after a draft of the assignment has been saved, the group assignment overall will break and the groups will be unable to view the draft or start another. If the student is moved back to their original group, the saved draft will be available and able to be saved.

Workaround

Do not move students from groups if a group already has a saved draft.
