Emotion is a central and motivating force in life. It drives humans to some of their greatest achievements, drags them to some of their lowest moments, and serves to both bond and divide them. Additionally, the regulation of emotion is necessary for healthy adaptation and successful socialization.

Jared J. McGinley, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Towson University. He is the founder and director of the Emotion Science Lab. In his research, he explores the nature of biological expression inherent to emotion states. He also aims to understand how emotions are regulated, and how they are shared and transferred between interacting persons. Much of his research involves physiological measurement with a particular focus on autonomic nervous system function.

At Towson University, Dr. McGinley provides supervision and advising to psychology students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also serves as an instructor, primarily teaching courses in biopsychology and research methodology.
