Things to do

On Campus

“My favorite thing to do on campus is probably to go to the boxing room at Burdick Gym and just have a workout by hitting the bags, or also going swimming in the pool at Burdick since it’s tends to be quiet and a way I can relieve stress.” –Breanna Patino ’22

Most often mentioned by Honors students was activities in or around Burdick HallTowson University’s gym. Burdick offers classes, equipment, and even trips off campus! They also have outdoor areas.

“One of my favorite things to do on campus is go outside on Burdick field and play frisbee with some friends. Or anywhere on campus for this matter. As long as you have a disk and some good company, playing frisbee at Towson is the best.” –Maria Puglese ’22

“My favorite thing to do on campus is taking exercise classes in Burdick Hall. My friends and I like to take classes like Zumba or Pilates as a fun way to burn off some steam. The classes became part of our weekly routine and helped us take a break from homework.” –Isabelle Cruz ’23

“There are many things I love to do on campus.  I really enjoy meeting friends to catch up or studying at Starbucks, Freedom Square, or Union. I like going to the fitness classes, like the Barre class, at Burdick.  The college events like football games are always really fun. As a commuter, I was worried I would miss out on the “college experience” but the school has provided so many fun events that commuters truly feel part of the college and the student body.” –Natalie Miller ’22

“While there are many fun things to do around campus, I think going to the football games in the fall is one of my favorites. Though it is not related to academics, it is nice to get a break for a few hours on the weekend to go support my school. Being around all of the Towson students with my close friends by me, along with the marching band and cheerleaders, makes the school really feel like a home.” –Samantha Walsh ’22

Many Honors students also mention attending on campus events, club meetings, or activities.

“One of my favorite things to do on campus is attending football games at Johnny Unitas. It’s a great way to connect with your fellow students and to show support for the football team, marching band, cheerleaders, and dance teams. Plus, there’s always a chance that you could get on the jumbo screen!” –Taryn Painter ’22

Many students also enjoy sitting outside to study, eat, or hang out with friends. Popular locations to do so include Freedom Square and the yard right in front of West Village Commons.

“My favorite thing to do on campus is attend theater performances in the CFA. I saw one this semester featuring one of the members of my A Capella group, and I am planning to attend more when school reopens.” –Celeste Vandegriff ’22

Off Campus

“The Towson Mall is always a fun place to hang out and go shopping. Also the Cinemax does discounts for students on Tuesdays as well as its close proximity to BJ’s Brewhouse and On the Border.”  –Sam Frank ’22

The nearby mall is one of the most mentioned places that Towson students like to visit. Filled to the brim with popular shopping options, food, and entertainment, Towson Town Center is easily accessible by campus bus all 7 days of the week.

“My favorite thing to do around campus is getting coffee with my friends or going on hikes! At least once a week I go to Starbucks or Dunkin’ with my friends and hangout there for a while and sometimes study. And with hiking there are a few different places to hike near campus like the Loch Raven Reservoir! Hiking is a nice way to take a break from studying while doing something healthy and fun!” –Bailey VanBuren ’22

Many students take walks around or off campus, either in Glen Woods or other spots. Through Campus Recreation in Burdick, there may even be group trips to outdoor, off-campus locations!

“The mall is very close by and a new arcade named Round One just opened and is a great place to go out bowling, karaoke or just to play games. There are some nice hiking trails nearby that are fun to explore as well as great restaurants such as Pho Dat Thanh, Kung Fu Tea and Bun Shop. Ellicott City is also about 20min away and has great food options.”  –Lauren Cunningham ’21
